He'd be top of any list of mine in this category. Ran his fucking socks off week-in. week-out chasing opposition down, then simply laid-off any won ball to one of his more illustrious team mates to do magic with.

I'm sure all the other players on the pitch appreciated his industry, even if it was only to let them have a 30 second breather.

Kevin Keen.

Watch a highlights video of us in the early Nineties. Around half our goals were from his passes. An assist-machine before the word assist became a thing in football.

Matty Holmes was rubbish by the way. Amazing that people then and now fell for it.

Re: Unsung Heroes
I liked Morley and definitely agree he was an unsung hero but "goal machine" might be pushing it a bit far!

Trevor Morley , goal machine in one of the poorest West Ham sides of my lifetime .

Mullins was alright when he played in centre midfield. Struggled when he was played out of position at full back.

Butler and Mullins have already been mentioned - but are at the top of my list.

Always thought Tony Gale never really got the credit he deserved along side Alvin. Don't think we had a song for him, unlike his balding partner.
